Archive Exclusive Reports

From time to time, Leuze electronic prepares exclusive reports for specific trade journals (exclusive releases). These generally have direct reference to an application (application reports, success stories). Or they describe technology trends and solutions in detailed form (technical articles, white papers).

If interested, submit a written inquiry to us and we will be happy to provide you with texts and images as well as information on when and where the article has already appeared.

Traffic safety with Leuze electronic
Originally, overheight monitoring for trucks in the "Berg Bock" highway tunnel was done by mechanical systems. But the aluminum rails damaged by vehicle impact had to be repaired or exchanged every time. A new solution which prevents this is based on the functionality of Leuze electronic One-way Light Beam Devices.

Smart camera saves time and money
Labels in automated beverage filling systems are generally inspected using light scanners. With an increasing variety of products which are moved through a system, however, the necessary retrofitting effort and expense rises with the number of product changes. In addition, scanners are often pushed to their limits during retrofitting due to the many label design and construction varieties.

Mega logisitics at high speed
As a transfer airport, the Frankfurt Airport is one of the most important air traffic hubs in the world. In its center, a highly-complex luggage logistics area for checkin and transfer luggage spans the entire airport. New readers from Leuze electronic on the branches of the transport paths contribute significantly to the passengers' luggage reaching its destination quickly and reliably.

The all-rounder for high system availability
The HRTL 96B laser light scanners from Leuze electronic are predestined for combined compartment occupation and feed-through monitoring in intralogistics systems.

Safe in spite of handicap
The sheltered workshops in Cham produce a very wide range of work pieces, including complex equipment. And just as varied is the machine park – from the saw to the punching machine right up to the welding equipment. But what are the standards of labor protection here?

Trendsetting logistics at Future Electronics
Since the beginning of 2010, the Canadian distributor Future Electronics has been supplying customers in the whole of Europe, the Middle East and Africa with electronic components via its new distribution center in Leipzig, Germany. The Parkstein-based system integrator Witron Logistik + Informatik GmbH was responsible as general contractor for the planning and implementation of the facility, while all the sensors were supplied by Leuze electronic GmbH + Co. KG based in Owen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

No profile - fans off!
LRS 36 switching light section sensors from Leuze electronic offer functionality which has not been available until now. At apt HILLER GmbH, they are used for a simple but extremely effective fan control system in the refrigerated table of an aluminum extrusion press line. The result is enormous energy savings.

Pocket bottles in the spotlight
Before beverages are ready for shipping, numerous inspections need to be performed – after all, quality needs to be ensured in every respect. This includes, for example, inspections of the labels, of the fill level and of the caps.

Move, safeguard and control
With the high demand for the new Volkswagen Tiguan came the conversion of a production line at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. Also affected by this change was the driverless transportation system for cockpit assembly.

Light-section sensor for bin picking
Faude Automatisierungstechnik GmbH in Gärtringen develops innovative product solutions using forward-looking technologies, such as the UR-6-85-5-A lightweight robot from the Danish company Universal Robots.

3D sensor systems – Luxury or necessity?
Advances in light-section sensors enliven the 3D discussion.

Well done – Material Handling by AS-i
By means of the monitored and time-limited suppression of protective functions, the productivity of automated systems can be increased significantly. With the muting technology developed by Leuze electronic for the AS-i Safety Monitor, this can now easily be achieved with AS-Interface Safety at Work up to category 4 acc. to EN 954-1 or Pl e acc. to EN ISO 13849-1.

Goodbye index cards!
In large libraries, self-service dominates everything from check-out to return. But very few users stop to think about how the returned media are sorted. Assisting here are automated processes with flexible transport systems from Swisslog-Telelift and sensors from Leuze electronic.

In the user's focus
Today's user knows that an image processing application depends on more than just processor performance and algorithms. Criteria such as illumination, flexibility during camera adjustment and the costs associated with integration are also decisive factors for success.

Sensors for efficient intralogistics
In Weilerswist near Cologne, one of the most modern logistics centers in Europe has been constructed. With an investment of more than 130 million euros, the drugstore chain dm-drogerie markt has expanded its capacity here to be able to supply more than 1200 dm stores in the future.

Moving bridges with Leuze electronic
Leuze electronic BV of Waardenburg (Netherlands) and Syrinx Industrial Electronics, also of the Netherlands, play an important role in the construction of the Bay Bridge in San Francisco in the U.S. state of California.

3D position detection over a wide measurement range
In the automated handling there are processes where objects have to be detected, located and gripped correctly. Leuze electronic has deliberately designed its LPS series light-section sensors for a large measurement range of 200 to 800 mm to be able to determine 3D gripping positions even for large-sized products.

Technology trends in identification technology
The opening of markets and countries with high industrial potential makes it necessary to produce and deliver an increasing number of product variants in smaller quantities and in shorter times. Because this trend is observed in all industries and sectors, the structure and organization of logistics is important, both within a company (intralogistics) as well as the distribution logistics to distribution centers, wholesalers and retailers, all the way to the end customer.

Muting with complete sets
Machine manufacturers wishing to implement access guarding with muting are often confronted with the problem that numerous individual components need to be ordered, installed and matched to one another. This can be performed faster and easier with premounted and preconfigured Safety Sensor Sets, such as the CPSET from Leuze electronic.

Intelligent laser scanners
In-plant logistics solutions increasingly use self-driving shuttle systems, known as side-tracking skates, between the conveyors. They permit goods being conveyed to be shifted perpendicular to the direction of transport, in an automated fashion. Safety Laser Scanners on such vehicles ensure the protection of persons working in this area.

3D laser navigation on a hall ceiling
Driverless transportation systems (DTS) perform transport tasks fully automatically and, for reasons of cost, can be found in logistics applications in a wide range of industries. The scanner systems employed in such vehicles for optical navigation usually scan horizontally, using reflector marks mounted on building or system parts.

Sensors in a salt warehouse
Salinen Austria AG is Austria's largest producer of salt. The company has put a new high-bay warehouse into operation which, due to the conditions present, is made of a somewhat unusual building material: wood.

Sharp Snapshot of Moving Codes
Whether for barcodes, 2D-codes or RFID – Leuze electronic offers the right reader for every code. With the LSIS 412i for blob analysis, the optical sensor professional brought a smart camera suitable for industrial use to the market that, in addition to simplified integration, offers a high degree of flexibility and process reliability.
