Flexibility through a diverse range of variants
The wide range of different bar code reader variants offered by Leuze electronic guarantees maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications. Users can choose between three lens variants for different modular widths from 0.25 mm through to 1.0 mm. The readers are available with identical scanning fields as line scanners and also in the form of the latest-generation swivel mirror or deflecting mirror versions. The high-performance lens of the BCL 500i features a symmetrical ±30° optical angle of aperture and provides scope for an extensive scanning field aperture with a high depth of field even at close range.
With communication interfaces PROFIBUS or Ethernet TCP/IP built into in the device, as well as integrated webConfig parameterization software, fast implementation and extreme handling convenience are assured when commissioning in existing networks. As previously, the new devices offer two serial interfaces for RS 232 or RS 422 and RS 485. In addition, Leuze’s own internally developed multiNet is also available to facilitate networking. Integrated field bus connectivity radically simplifies wiring for the user and almost always results in a higher data rate, as it eliminates the bottleneck caused by additional gateways.
Simple commissioning and operation
Commissioning has been simplified for the user by the unique parameterization software webConfig. This permits devices to be fully parameterized in any optional WEB browser directly via the control system, with addressing via a USB port. The software features a convenient, future-proof program structure and menu prompting. The port is also configured to allow the use of a USB memory stick as an external storage facility. Functions such as firmware update, documentation, monitoring and parameter record management are naturally also possible.
Another factor which adds to the handling and installation convenience of the new series is a carefully designed mounting concept. Depending on requirements, proven dovetail technology and M4 x 6 screws permit simple, convenient fixture. Ultralock featuring M12 connection technology ensures fast, reliable electrical coupling even in cramped mounting conditions. Adjustment and parameterization are facilitated by a clearly arranged and transparent depiction of scanned values on a multi-language display. The menu prompting system is user-friendly, using just four buttons. Two additional LEDs provide a quick overview of the device status.
Optimum system availability with code reconstruction technology (CRT)
In running operation, optimum legibility is assured by superior performance. Innovative code reconstruction technology (CRT) guarantees this same degree of legibility even for high-speed processes. Its benefits are brought to bear particularly with twisted labels, small label heights or for codes which have to be read at extreme skewed positions relative to the central axis. Even partially damaged or soiled codes can be successfully decoded.
In terms of their equipment and technology, the new BCL 500i series bar code readers provide pioneering performance features allowing users to flexibly address any application-specific requirement, while saving valuable time and guaranteeing a high level of system availability even under the most difficult conditions and with ever increasing processing speeds.
